Once again the daughter of the late U.S. Senator John McCain, Meghan McCain, has taken to Twitter to attack President Donald Trump. Her latest attack is in response to a fake news article in the Wall Street Journal about the USS John S. McCain in which the author claimed that the White House ordered a tarp to be hung over the ship’s name and sailors, who wore caps bearing the ship’s name, were given the day off for Trump’s visit.
Trump is a child who will always be deeply threatened by the greatness of my dads incredible life. There is a lot of criticism of how much I speak about my dad, but nine months since he passed, Trump won’t let him RIP. So I have to stand up for him.
It makes my grief unbearable. https://t.co/gUbFAla1VE

The name of USS John S. McCain was not obscured during the POTUS visit to Yokosuka on Memorial Day. The Navy is proud of that ship, its crew, its namesake and its heritage.

A US Navy official told CNN, “We didn’t do anything to obstruct the name of the ship. The Wall Street Journal piece refers to a photo of a tarp covering the ship, that photo was taken Friday, May 24, the tarp was removed the following day.”
McCain’s daughter, who has earned a reputation for her childish temper tantrums in defense of her father, has become an icon and reliable source of outrage for the Nevertrumpers. The inaccuracy of the report did not keep her followers from jumping on her bandwagon.
Go ahead, “patriots.” Make more excuses for this disgraceful childishness. https://t.co/W1XxiFsjkh

A disgrace. Shanahan should be hauled up pronto to explain this by the House and Senate Armed Services Committees. https://t.co/SflfzeUqj4

Of course, Meghan had detractors weigh-in as well:

So far, the Journal has not issued a correction:
NEW: The White House wanted the USS John McCain “out of sight” for Trump’s visit to Japan. A tarp was hung over the ship’s name ahead of the trip, and sailors—who wear caps bearing the ship’s name—were given the day off for Trump’s visit. w/@gluboldhttps://t.co/6ugPceCOre pic.twitter.com/KuIoWJK5Kt
