Excessive Heat Warning Issued For Maricopa, Yuma, Gila Counties

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Maricopa, Gila, and Yuma counties for for Thursday and Friday.

Daytime highs are expected to be in the 98 to 111 degrees Fahrenheit range for Gila County and in the 107 to 119 degrees Fahrenheit range in Maricopa and Yuma Counties.

The Arizona Emergency Information Network is advising residents to stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay informed.

Precautions to prevent heat exhaustion or heat stroke include:

● Stay in air-conditioned buildings.

● Limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day (mid-day).

● Check on at-risk friends, family, and neighbors at least twice a day.

● Drink water before, during, and after working or exercising outside.
