Yucca Fire District Chief Charged With Theft

On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, Matthew Young, the Chief of Yucca Fire District turned himself in to detectives with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, Young told detectives that he had embezzled approximately $40,000 from the Yucca Fire District’s bank account over the past six months. He admitted to using the money to purchase several guns, 3-D printers, two boats and other items.

A search warrant was executed at Young’s residence where several of the items described by Young were seized by detectives. Young was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility for theft of $25,000 or more.
