Wrong-Way Driver Kills 20-Year-Old Woman On SR 101 In Glendale

Laiquan Lemon, age 20, of Goodyear was killed on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at 11:31 p.m., by a wrong way driver on State Route 101 at Union Hills.

Ms. Lemon died after a Chevrolet Malibu sedan, which was traveling northbound within the southbound lanes, collided with her Nissan sedan. A third vehicle had minor involvement and the driver was not injured, according to the Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, a 22-year-old Phoenix woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was admitted to a local hospital.

According to DPS as part of the investigation, detectives are working to determine if impairment was a factor in this collision.
