Traffic Stop By Chino Valley Police Officers Leads To Drug Bust

A Phoenix man, Larry Toomer and Cynthia Salas from Surprise were arrested on numerous drug charges following a traffic stop by Chino Valley Police officers in the are of Highway 89 and Old Highway 89.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the traffic stop occurred on September 16, 2019, around 2:00 a.m. The stop resulted in the seizure of approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine, 10 fentanyl pills, along with drug paraphernalia and a handgun.

During the investigation, officers learned Toomer had transported about 2 ounces of methamphetamine to a home in the 1600 block of Grasshopper Lane, Chino Valley.

Detectives from Partner’s Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) were notified and during the investigation confirmed that Toomer was participating in ongoing drug deliveries and sales tied to the home on Grasshopper Lane. PANT detectives obtained a search warrant for the home.

According to authorities, at 1:30 p.m., a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team made entry into the home assisted by PANT detectives, Chino Valley Police Officers and Prescott Police Officers. An occupant, 49-year-old Stephen Moore ran to the back door and was taken into custody. Another male along with 39-year-old Rebecca Zuniga were detained. Zuniga had outstanding warrants from the Arizona Department of Corrections and the Prescott Valley Police Department.

During a search of the home, detectives found various drugs in every room of the house. Drugs seized included methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana.

The total of 110 grams of methamphetamine, 7.22 grams of heroin, 10 Fentanyl pills, 1 vehicle seized, 1 gun seized and over $500 in cash was seized during the traffic stop and from the home on Grasshopper Lane. Detectives also recovered drug paraphernalia, scales, syringes and packaging for drug sales.
