Tucson Man Arrested After Driving Car Into Sahuarita Lake

A Tucson man, Riley Johnson, was arrested on Friday after driving his car into Sahuarita Lake.

According to Sahuarita Police, on Friday September 27, 2019 at about 12:32 a.m., officers responded to the area of Camino Lago Azul and Camino Rancho Solano to a report of a Check Welfare of male subject, later identified as Johnson, knocking on doors.

Johnson was reportedly requesting assistance from nearby homeowners regarding his vehicle believed to be near Sahuarita Lake Park. Officers arrived and located a submersed sedan in the north end of the lake.

The 22 year-old Johnson was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was cited and released.

Town of Sahuarita Public Works department staff worked with officers to remove the sedan from the lake.
