Man’s Body Pulled From Tempe Town Lake

On Friday July 16, at around 4:00 p.m., an unidentified man was seen running into the Tempe Town Lake. A bystander saw the man struggling and start to go under the water.
The man did not resurface. The bystander called 911 for help and Tempe Fire Medical Rescue and Tempe Police responded to assist with the emergency. Arizona DPS Ranger helicopter was requested by crews on scene, and additional sonar equipment was used to try to locate the man.
Tempe Fire Medical Rescue’s Dive Team was activated and a search of the area using trained divers began. The search was temporarily stopped due to weather conditions and began again Saturday morning. The man’s body was found quickly and removed from the lake.
Tempe Police detectives will be working to identify the person and conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
