On September 2, LionHeart Security Services, located in Tempe, honored one of their own, Anthony Klier, with their Medal of Valor, as a result of an event that took place earlier this year.
That incident is described by Bill Herzog, Director of Operations for Lionheart Security. as follows:
“On May 28 there was a shooting at the Doubletree Hilton at Broadway and Priest in Tempe. One person was killed, and another was injured in the leg. During the shooting, the security guard ran into the active shooting incident to administer life-saving CPR to the first victim. EMTs weren’t allowed in because of the active shooting situation. The guard risked his life in order to try to save another.
Unfortunately, the victim did not survive.
Security Guard Anthony Klier will be awarded the Medal of Valor for his heroic efforts in a dangerous situation.”
It should be pointed out that the senior management of LionHeart Security Services, all former Military and Law Enforcement, does not encourage this type of behavior. In fact, it is their company policy that their employees, when faced with this type of situation, only observe and report. Employee safety is their main concern.
Be that as it may, it is impossible to overlook heroism when it happens, and Anthony Klier is a very worthy recipient of this honor.
After the ceremony, I had a chance to visit with Anthony briefly. It became immediately apparent that this is a squared away dude. No BS here. He has been with LionHeart Security for about 3 years and was recently promoted to Hospitality Security Supervisor. His duties include, among others, the training and supervising of all personnel assigned to security roles at hotels, resorts, and golf clubs serviced by LionHeart Security Services.
As is often the case with real heroes, Anthony does not consider himself a hero. In fact, he views the Doubletree Hilton incident as a training experience that he is now able to pass on to those under is training and supervision.
One takeaway from interacting with the personnel of LionHeart Security Services is that this is a company that oozes respect and professionalism.
