Biggs, Colleagues Demand Answers From Biden Administration On Escalating Border Crisis

“In less than 12 hours, 2 large groups, totaling more than 160 migrants, illegally crossed into the USA and surrendered to #Tucson Sector #BorderPatrol agents,” tweeted John R. Modlin, Interim Chief Patrol Agent of the U.S. Border Patrol's Tucson Sector in July.

On Friday, Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs and 33 of his colleagues sent a letter to President Biden demanding answers about his administration’s handling of the border crisis. The group is questioning why the Biden administration has failed to reimplement the Migrant Protection Protocols as ordered by Judge Kacsmaryk.

“The Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) are a U.S. Government action whereby certain foreign individuals entering or seeking admission to the U.S. from Mexico – illegally or without proper documentation – may be returned to Mexico and wait outside of the U.S. for the duration of their immigration proceedings, where Mexico will provide them with all appropriate humanitarian protections for the duration of their stay,” according to the Department of Homeland Security.

In August, Judge Kacsmaryk ordered the Biden administration to reinstate the MPP program in response to a lawsuit filed by Texas and Missouri, arguing that the termination of the policy violated U.S. immigration law.

Judge Kacsmaryk’s ruling was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. The judge’s order forced the administration to begin reimplementing the program immediately.

“It is well past time for President Biden to acknowledge the border crisis that he has created and enforce laws to secure the border,” said Biggs. “Biden has worked overtime to erase Trump administration policies and programs, like Remain in Mexico, that were securing our border and discouraging illegal immigration. We are demanding that the President provide Congress with accurate information about the extent of the border crisis so that we can understand the full impact of his open border policies.”

Just this past week, Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a group of 171 migrants after they entered on the west end of the Sector’s area of operations.

Julio Rosas, of Townhall.com, reported that the Yuma Sector is currently swamped illegal immigrants including some from Uzbekistan.
