Arizona politicians and President Joe Biden took to Twitter on Tuesday to claim credit for bringing the TSMC chip manufacturing operation to Arizona. The company is expected to create 4,500 jobs at its Arizona operations.
Biden, Governor Doug Ducey, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, Governor-elect Katie Hobbs, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, members of Arizona’s congressional delegation, TSMC Chairman Dr. Mark Liu and TSMC Founder Dr. Morris Chang were among the dignitaries at the newly constructed factory in North Phoenix.
In 2020, Governor Ducey announced TSMC selected Arizona for its new U.S. advanced semiconductor facility – the largest foreign investment in state history.
From our first meeting with TSMC leadership in 2017, we knew the high-tech environment we were building in Arizona would perfectly complement TSMC’s operations. It’s a special day to see this vision take shape. #TSMCArizona pic.twitter.com/fSXzD7tEt9

Our Chips and Science law, legislation I negotiated and led through the Senate, makes historic investments in AZ's growing economy – great seeing it celebrated today! I'm laser-focused on continuing to deliver lasting results for AZ’s top priorities by the end of the year. https://t.co/LHSFgyFkuV

TSMC announced this morning that they will now be bringing both 3 and 4nm process technology to their #PHX fab, plus investing in a second fab – an overall $40B investment in the company’s AZ operations. This is one of the largest foreign direct investments in US history.
