Detectives Investigate Deadly Shooting In Phoenix Restaurant

A man, who started shooting in a restaurant near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road on Saturday night, is dead. A man inside the restaurant shot and killed 26-year-old Oscar Luna.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call at the restaurant located at 2700 West Camelback Road just before 10:00 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they saw Luna suffering from a gunshot wound. Phoenix fire responded and took the man to a local hospital where he did not survive his injuries.

While on scene, officers detained an adult man involved in the shooting and made contact with several witnesses. When detectives responded to take over the investigation, it was learned that Luna had entered the restaurant with a gun and fired a number of rounds inside the building.

The man detained and questioned by police was inside the restaurant during this incident and had shot Luna ending this confrontation. The man provided statements of self-defense which were consistent with statements made by witnesses.

No arrests have been made in this case. This incident is still under investigation. Once completed, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office will review the case for any criminal charges.
