Alcohol Possible Factor In Collision With Phoenix Jaywalker

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a central Phoenix collision that left a pedestrian at a local hospital in critical condition. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.

On August 13, 2023, around 2:25 a.m. officers responded to the area of 7th Avenue and Coolidge Street regarding a collision involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, the adult male pedestrian was located and ultimately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Currently the man continues to receive treatment and is in critical condition. The driver of the car involved in the collision was also transported to a local hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives responded to take over the investigation. Preliminary information suggests that the vehicle involved was traveling northbound on 7th Avenue when it struck the pedestrian, who was crossing 7th Avenue mid-block.
