Our nation is faced with critical problems such as immigration, national debt, national security and climate change, which could be solved if politicians in Washington would place the country’s welfare above personal politics. Unfortunately, most Senators and Representatives prefer to debate impeaching the current president or applying the 14th amendment to the previous president rather than addressing real crises.
What is needed is a real leader in the White House. Since 2009, the past three presidents did not have sufficient backgrounds to prepare them for national leadership. None of the three had been a governor, where the ability to get things done while working with a legislature can be developed. None of the three served in the military, where skill at facing crises can be developed. Presidents Obama and Biden had no experience managing a business and President Trump’s business record, other than New York real estate, is filled with bankruptcies and creditors holding useless paper.
We desperately need a national leader with proper leadership experience who has a positive attitude – think Ronald Reagan. Is there such a leader available? The answer is yes, but he has chosen not to run for the nomination, although he can be seen demonstrating his positive approach on numerous cable news shows. He is a multi-term successful governor who demonstrated his intelligence and work ethic by receiving his degree from MIT. That degree was in civil and environmental engineering, which means that he understands technology and has a fundamental knowledge of the environment.
After college, he worked as an environmental engineer, then became director of the family business which involved real estate development and technology. This was followed by being CEO of a resort company which employed 700 people. He was elected governor in 2016 and was re-elected in 2018, 2020 and 2022. When you see him he generally has a smile on his face and talks about the future rather than dwelling on the past.
Who is this governor who should be our next president? It is Chris Sununu, Republican of New Hampshire. If those Republicans currently running for President, other than Trump, truly cared about their country, they would all end their campaigns and demand that Chris Sununu enter the race. My great grandson Preston is in his second year of life; I hope that when he is 21, the American dream will still be alive, as it was for me. The 2024 presidential election might determine the nature of Preston’s future. I truly believe that the election of President Chris Sununu will maximize the chance of our nation reaching its true potential.
