Two East Valley teens were arrested last week by Cochise County Sheriff’s deputies for a failed human smuggling attempt.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, November 10th, 2023 at approximately 7:36 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 80 near mile post 373 on a 2009 Honda Ridgeline truck.
Upon making contact with the driver, 19-year-old Eli LaClaire of Mesa, and one of his passengers, 18-year-old Landon Vert, of Gilbert, it was discovered that they were transporting five illegal aliens.
The aliens were turned over to U.S. Border Patrol for processing while LaClaire and Vert were booked into the Cochise County Jail on Human Smuggling charges.
