Phoenix Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested After Leaving Scene With Child

A Phoenix domestic violence suspect was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly assaulted his estranged wife and took off with one of their children.

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating the incident in which Emmanuel Maldonado attacked his estranged wife before taking off with his child and other property belonging to his wife.

On April 16, 2024, around 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a home in the area of 4400 North 99th Avenue regarding a domestic violence assault stating that a man was assaulting a woman in the residence. When officers arrived, the 27-year-old Maldonado, had taken off from the area and was accompanied by his child in common with his wife, determined to be the victim of the assault. As officers gathered additional information, detectives were called to assume the investigation.

As the investigation progressed, detectives learned that Maldonado was estranged from his wife and children after she came to Arizona from out of state. On the night of this incident, Maldonado attacked his wife at her new home. While inside of the home, Maldonado took several items from his wife to include her phone, firearm, and vehicle keys. Maldonado’s wife barricaded herself in a room for protection along with some of her children. Maldonado left the home and took off from the area in his wife’s vehicle. He also took a child of his and his wife, not by force, and left the area.

The child was listed as a Missing Endangered Child as detectives continued to work the case in an attempt to locate both Maldonado and the child. This work continued throughout the next day until detectives located Maldonado in the same area of the original crime. Maldonado was arrested without incident and the child was located unharmed. The child has been reunited with is mother and is safely back home.

Maldonado was interviewed and booked on multiple charges to include aggravated assault, weapons violations, burglary and other charges related to this incident.
