A Bagdad man, Glenwood Arthur Bringle, was sentenced to nine days in prison after pleading guilty to the felony crime of Aiming a Laser Pointer at an Aircraft or the Flight Path of an Aircraft.

Bringle’s prison sentence is to be followed by three years of supervised release

According to the Department of Justice, on October 5, 2021, Bringle aimed a laser pointer at two United States Air Force F-16 fighter jets while the pilots were conducting training exercises in the desert area near Bringle’s home. The laser strikes caused the F-16 cockpits to be illuminated, interfering with the pilots’ ability to see and affecting their ability to fly the F-16s and complete their training exercise.

Bringle entered a plea of guilty on February 26, 2025. As part of the plea agreement and sentence, Bringle abandoned ownership and possession of several firearms and lasers seized during the execution of a search warrant at his home on November 8, 2021.

  1. Maybe giving pilots the authority to respond with an air to surface missile would convince people that it’s not a good idea to use their laser pointers on military aircraft 😂

  2. “The laser strikes caused the F-16 cockpits to be illuminated, interfering with the pilots’ ability to see and affecting their ability to fly…”

So what you’re saying is that the mightiest air force in the world can be rendered flaccid and ineffective with cat toys?

I demand a full refund of my tax dollars from the DoAF.

    • They fly at 1300 miles per hour, that’s 1906 feet per second. No refund for you, and that idiot should have gotten at least a year or two in prison for his stupidity.
