
A man was pronounced deceased at the hospital after officers responded to a serious traffic collision in West Phoenix Tuesday evening.
At about 4:22 p.m., officers were called to a collision involving two vehicles near 8700 West Durango Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a car and truck involved. Officers were notified that the Phoenix Fire Department had already transported the driver of the truck, Eric Wavomba, to the hospital with life threatening injuries. He man did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
A passenger in the truck later took himself to the hospital but had non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives learned that the adult driver of the car exited the parking lot and collided with a truck driving southbound on the roadway. As a result of the impact, the truck hit a tree.
The driver of the car remained on scene and impairment is not believed to be a factor. Any potential charges will be considered at the completion of the investigation.
