Former President Joe Biden’s State Department gave a student charged with domestic terrorism one of the nation’s most prestigious scholarships.

The Biden administration awarded Max Biederman, an Arizona State University (ASU) student, with a Fulbright Scholarship for the 2023-24 academic year.

Just before ASU spring break began, Biederman joined Antifa activists in Georgia when they ambushed police officers as part of “Defend the Atlanta Forest,” or “Stop Cop City” in March 2023: an anarchist, anti-police, environmental activism organization. The activists were fighting against the completion of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.

In their effort to occupy 381 forested acres where the center would be housed (along with a movie studio), the activist organization had committed vandalization, arson, and destruction of private property; assault of utility workers, law enforcement, and private citizens; and gun violence.

“[T]he militant anarchists engage in violence to bring attention to their own political goals nad their perceived government violence,” stated the indictment. “But political violence is not simply a philosophy; Defend the Atlanta Forest has put the philosophy into action. Indeed, in one example, a known Defend the Atlanta Forest arsonist was recorded complaining that there were not enough violent members in protests against the Training Center.”

Biederman was arrested March 5, 2023 by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and charged with domestic terrorism. That August on the 25th, ASU announced Biederman as one of 16 ASU students offered Fulbright Scholarships. On August 29, Biederman was indicted on racketeering.

The indictment described briefly how Biederman attacked police and helped the Antifa mob commit arson.

“On or about March 5, 2023, Max Biederman did join an organized mob of individuals designed to overwhelm the police force in an attempt to occupy the DeKalb forest and cause property damage,” stated the indictment. “Biederman did join an organized mob and succeeded in overwhelming the police force, thereby aiding and abetting in the offense of Arson and Domestic Terrorism in an attempt to occupy the DeKalb forest and prevent the building of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.

Biederman’s arrest wasn’t obscure. His name was included in national, mainstream reporting.

Yet, life went on for Biederman at ASU.

In May 2023, Biederman was also allowed to graduate with his bachelor’s degrees in Global Health and Arabic Studies from ASU.

That fall, ASU featured Biederman with congratulations as one of that year’s Fulbright Scholars.

Although he faced an indictment, Biederman went overseas to work as an English teaching assistant from August to December of 2023 in Tajikistan.

The American Space Bokhtar — a program of the U.S. Embassy in Bokhtar — posted in October 2023 that Biederman was one of their spelling bee judges, serving as the pronouncer.

Biederman’s Tajikistan stint is the last of the professional experience listed on his page.

Prior to his arrest and receiving of the Fulbright Scholarship, Biederman was a case management intern for the Safety and Wellness Office within the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Phoenix.

Biederman’s cover photo on Facebook, since 2017, has been a picture of Italian graffiti: “IL FASCISMO E’ MERDA,” meaning “Fascism is sh*t.”

Chabad ASU named Biederman their student of the week in the fall of 2022.

  1. Of course he did. This just shows Democrats support terrorism especially if it is against conservatives. They should be listed as a supporter of domestic terrorism
