Arizona’s 7th Congressional District will have another showdown between U.S. Rep. Adelita Grijalva, D-Goodyear, and Republican Daniel Butierez Sr.

Both of these candidates ran unopposed in their respective primaries Tuesday.

This marks the second consecutive year that voters in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District will choose between the two candidates.

In a special election last year, Adelita Grijalva beat Butierez by almost 40 percentage points.

The upcoming November general election will be the third time Butierez, a small business owner, has attempted to win this congressional seat. In 2024, he lost to the late Raúl Grijalva, Adelita Grijalva’s father, by nearly 30 percentage points.

Adelita Grijalva has a cash-on-hand advantage over Butierez. She has $427,977 while he has $11,399, according to Federal Election Commission records.

A Republican has never represented the 7th Congressional District since its establishment in 2003.

In Arizona’s 8th Congressional District Democratic primary, Bernadette Greene Placentia defeated Raymond Keeler, according to unofficial election results from the Arizona Secretary of State’s website.

She will now run against U.S. Rep. Abe Hamadeh, R-Surprise, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary.

On social media, an X account associated with Hamadeh’s campaign, Abe Hamadeh War Room, thanked voters for “renominating” the representative.

“Abe will keep fighting for secure borders, economic strength, and our freedoms, delivering real results for AZ-08 families every day,” the post said.

Hamadeh, who has represented the 8th Congressional District since 2025, has a cash-on-hand advantage over Greene Placentia.

Federal Election Commission records show that Hamadeh has $384,185 of cash on hand, while Greene Placentia has $190,394.

The last time a Democrat represented the 8th Congressional District was in 2013.

  1. Grijalva has to go. She is anti-American and cares motabout securing citizenship for immigrants than her established constituents.

  2. She will once again win in a landslide because the voters in D-7 are either too stupid or lazy to make a meaningful change! She is horrible!

  3. If anyone reading this is part of the Arizona DNC / RINO Election Fraud Machine, now is the time to go to the FBI and make a deal. The FBI has an active investigation into Arizona Election Fraud.

  4. Hey Repubs, we have to get rid of La Torta. Buckle up and vote for Butierez in November. I cannot see another election won by La Torta.

  5. Dont know anything about Butierez but he cant be any worse than the turds daughter. Time for a change folks and any change is better than what we have had. Greedyjalfa did nothing for the region, the state or the US and was an embarassment at best and so far she has not done anything but complain. I wonder if the democraps and the family are going to reimburse the people for running a dead man for the seat to begin with? Seems the democraps will run anything to get their way.

  6. I think AZ-7 is suicidal, but best of luck to Mr. Butierez, anyway.

And Mr. Hamadeh is great. While I think he would have been orders of magnitude better at the AG job than Mayes, at least we’ve got him on The Hill to counter the likes of DSA idiots; go get ’em, Abe!
