Tucson Woman Stabbed To Death, Suspect On Loose

Tucson Police are investigating the death of 39-year-old Shaundra Cruz.

On September 5, 2018, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Tucson Police Department received a 911 call about a possible assault in the 1600 block of West Prince Road. During the call, the line was disconnected. Moments later, an officer in the area was flagged down and directed to a mobile home community at 1681 W. Prince Road.

Upon arrival, the officer located Ms. Cruz lying on the main driveway of the complex. Ms. Cruz was unresponsive and had signs of sharp force trauma. Additional officers assisted and immediately began rendering aid. Tucson Fire was requested and took over medical treatment, however; Ms. Cruz was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives were able to determine that Ms. Cruz was visiting 21-year-old Bryan Guzman Hernandez at an apartment complex across the street. During that visit, an argument ensued and Ms. Cruz ran from the apartment. Guzman Hernandez chased Ms. Cruz back across the street where he stabbed her with a sharp object.

As of this date, Guzman Hernandez has not been located. A felony arrest warrant for First Degree Murder has been obtained for Guzman Hernandez. He should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information on his possible whereabouts is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
