The two motorcyclists who died after a bizarre shoot out in south Phoenix on Friday night have been identified.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on November 28th, around 10:52 p.m. officers responded to reports of a motorcycle crash in the area of 2000 South 7th Avenue. Upon arrival, they located motorcycle rider, 36-year-old Scott Kikes, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and another motorcycle rider, 53-year-old Job Martinez, with life-threatening injuries. A third man involved, driving a car, was not injured, but remained on scene. Both motorcycle riders were transported to the hospital, for their life-threatening-injuries, and later died.

Homicide detectives believe that that two motorcycle riders were stopped at a traffic light near the I-17 Freeway and 7th Avenue, when Martinez shot Kikes.

The driver of a car nearby saw Martinez shooting and hit him with his car, causing life-threatening injuries. That driver was detained for questioning and later released pending further investigation.

The circumstances leading up to the initial shooting are all part of the ongoing investigation.
