An anti–Immigration and Customs Enforcement demonstration in Goodyear drew attention this week after a passing motorist slow-rolled past the protest while playing “ICE ICE Baby” at high volume.
The demonstration took place near the intersection of Litchfield Road and Indian School Road in Goodyear, where protesters gathered along the sidewalk outside a shopping center holding signs opposing federal immigration enforcement.
Photos from the scene show several dozen demonstrators at most, spread out along the roadway frontage rather than forming a dense crowd.
According to a social media post documenting the event, at least one vehicle drove slowly past the demonstrators while blasting the 1990 hit song by Vanilla Ice, providing an ironic soundtrack to the protest.
“Anti-ICE demonstration out at Litchfield and Indian School Roads in Goodyear, AZ,” the post on X read. “Reports of at least one vehicle slow-rolling past blasting ‘ICE ICE Baby’ by Vanilla Ice.”

Images from the scene show some demonstrators turning toward traffic as vehicles passed through the intersection. No confrontations were reported, and traffic appeared to continue moving normally.
Anti-ICE demonstrations have appeared periodically across the West Valley in recent months amid national debate over immigration enforcement and federal detention policy.
Across Arizona on Jan. 30, students and community members staged walkouts and demonstrations against Immigration and Customs Enforcement as part of a nationwide “ICE Out of Everywhere” day of action. In the Phoenix area and around the Valley, thousands of high school and college students reportedly walked out of class, with groups in northwest Phoenix, Avondale, and Mesa carrying signs and chanting in public spaces, according to AZFamily.
In Tucson, anti-ICE activism disrupted regular school and work routines as dozens of Tucson Unified School District campus closures were reported due to staff and student absences tied to the protests, according to Arizona Public Media (AZPM). Demonstrators also marched through downtown Tucson, with hundreds gathering under bridges and along Congress Street.
The Goodyear gathering appeared limited in size, with protesters spaced along the northwest corner of the intersection. There were no immediate reports of law enforcement intervention, arrests, or citations connected to the demonstration or the passing vehicle.
As of this report, organizers of the protest had not publicly commented on the incident, and it remains unclear whether additional demonstrations are planned at the location.
