Arizonans take next step to block Obamacare

Tea Party Patriots are working to bring the Medicaid expansion decision to Arizona voters.  The Tea Party Patriots, the nation’s largest tea party organization, announced on Friday that it has made a $20,000 contribution to the United Republican Alliance of Principled Conservatives (URAPC) headquartered in Arizona for a petition drive to bring the issue of Medicaid expansion to referendum.

The Medicaid expansion is a significant component of Obamacare — one that Arizonans would like to decide for themselves.

The URAPC is determined to reverse a law signed by GOP Gov. Jan Brewer in June that significantly expands eligibility for Arizona’s Medicaid program. The expansion would allow Arizona to receive federal dollars to restore coverage to childless adults affected by an enrollment freeze.

The law was passed by a Republican-led legislature earlier this year in the face of serious internal opposition within the GOP.

“In 2010, Arizonans overwhelmingly rejected Obamacare at the ballot box,” said Bill Norton, the National Constitutional Coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots. “Ignoring the voters’ demands, Governor Brewer and her backers are now trying to force it down the throats of hard-working Arizonans. The Tea Party Patriots have expressed that we will leave no stone unturned in our fight with the American people to delay or stop the implementation of Obamacare. As a result, we are proud to have joined the fight in Arizona to support the grassroots effort here in combating overreach by the Federal government.”

The Tea Party Patriots and ForAmerica are in the midst of an “Exempt America Tour,” where they are visiting several states to pressure members of Congress to make sure they keep their promise to defund Obamacare.

Tea Party Patriots is a grassroots coalition with more than 3,400 locally organized chapters and more than 15 million supporters nationwide.
