Does Tucson have one brave soul?

There are few symbols that fully capture the essence of America these days like the A-10. With a mission to defend freedom wherever it is found, the A-10 protects freedom’s soldiers.

That is what is best about America; a human life whether it be the president of the free world, or the ground troops who defend the free world; their lives have equal value and all are valued.

If the A-10 is a perfect symbol of all that is great about America, it’s almost certain demise is also a symbol of all that is quickly destroying this country; greed and vain glory. The military industrialized complex can sell a tremendously expensive aircraft, and the jet jocks in Air Force leadership can have the jet of their dreams.

Make a buck while you can and make sure you look good while you’re doing it.

No longer are human lives of equal value. Freedom’s fighters will soon be collateral damage in the race to make money off the backs of the taxpayers, in order to buy a few their next shiny toys.

This week, the residents of Tucson have an opportunity to turn that around. Arizona Senator John McCain will be visiting the Old Pueblo on Tuesday to sell his next war.

He will be attending the Pima County Republican luncheon at the Sabbar Shriner Temple, located 450 S. Tucson Blvd., at 11:30 a.m.

Not normally a haven for the free and the brave, it is hoped that of few brave men and women step forward to defend the ugly Warthog that saves so many beautiful lives.

To date, McCain has refused to cosponsor legislation that will spare the A-10 from Air Force cuts. Ignoring pleas from his fellow Military Affairs Committee member, Senator Kelly Ayotte, to support the legislation, McCain has focused his sights only on Syria and not the men who will fight his dirty war.

Just like the lone man in Tiananmen Square, Tucson needs only one person. Only one person who will resolutely stand and demand that McCain save the Warthog.

Does Tucson have one? One brave person? We shall see.
