Sproul is back with more dirty tricks

sproulPolitical “consultant” Nathan Sproul has had little success with his dirty tricks in the past, and as in the past, he has left conservatives like Mark Finchem, a candidate in LD11, shaking his head.

Sproul is using the Arizona Liberty Alliance PAC to conduct his attack on his funders’ enemies. As reported in the conservative blog, Gilbert Watch, “AZ Liberty Alliance PAC/Lincoln Strategies is at the helm. A firm well-known to Arizona Conservatives because Nathan Sproul and his clan regularly attack pro-border security legislators like Russell Pearce and others, and they are known for running dirty and dishonest campaigns. They’ve also been investigated for voter registration fraud in various states and more. They work primarily for open-border candidates and donors.”

The recent Sproul attacks on Finchem and Darin Mitchell and are so absurd, that they are hard to take seriously, but to the unsuspecting low-information voter, they could be convincing.

Still, Finchem, a political newcomer, is undaunted by the accusation that he is the liberal and his opponent, Jo Grant, a long time political operative, is a conservative.

“A true honor,” that’s what Mark Finchem said to describe the feeling he had when he met Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has endorsed him. “Having the opportunity to meet Sheriff Joe Arpaio was a high point in my life,” said Finchem, a 21-year veteran public safety officer. “Sheriff Arpaio makes no apology for doing his job.”

Finchem, and his running mates Steve Smith and Vince Leach, are on record as supporting the work of the Border Patrol. Finchem says that the agents are in an “impossible predicament. They have been placed in between performing to meet the obligations of their oath of office, and the arbitrary agenda, called prosecutorial discretion by Eric Holder and Barak Obama, that prevents them from detaining and deporting right away illegal entrants into our country.”

“I believe it was a serious mistake to reorganize the Border Patrol under the Department of Homeland Security. We continue to receive misinformation and deceptive statements from the DHS leadership on the mess the Obama administration has made of border security, much like what we have seen with the IRS and it’s blatant obfuscation of the truth concerning the targeting of individuals and groups who hold dear the values that built our nation,” Finchem said.

Sproul’s group sent out a flier accusing Finchem of wanting to defund the Department of Homeland Security. “As I’ve said often, a well functioning Border Patrol that is able to carry out it’s mission of detaining illegal entrants into our nation, identifying them and detaining until deportation is completed is needed. The Border Patrol has had a mission change, taking them off of border patrol and putting them in detention centers to care for sick, possibly contagious, young adults, adolescents and even young children. This has come from Obama administration leadership.”

Sproul, using the word conservatives love most; liberty, wants to create the illusion that Mitchell and Finchem, who have been vetted by the likes of Joe Arpaio and Paul Babeu, are open border proponents.

According to the conservatives at Gilbert Watch, Diane Landis, Mitchell’s opponent, “has gone to a liberal, open-border firm, to produce and distribute an illegal campaign mailer that tells a complete lie about the House’s most conservative member. Landis should apologize for the gutter politics and the blatant lie. Voters who know her, know she’ll never apologize because this is the kind of campaign she has run since the beginning. The voters of LD13 deserve MUCH better than Diane Landis and her friends.”

Grant is on record saying she would not support legislation that would be “embarrassing to Arizona” when debating the merits of SB1070, SB1062 and other recent legislative attempts to limit Federal overreach.

Finchem and Mitchell have little to worry about considering Sproul’s record of success, which is dismal at best.
