Phoenix Military Veterans Commission To Meet For First Time

The City of Phoenix Military Veterans Commission will meet for the first time at a veterans service organization as part of its outreach to Veterans, Military Members, Military Families and Military Spouses.

Co-Chairmen of the Phoenix Military Veterans Commission Jon Altmann, and Virgel Cain invite members of veterans and military/military family communities to attend the Thursday, March 17, 2016, public Commission meeting at 1 PM at American Legion Post 41, 715 S. Second Avenue, Phoenix.

A presentation of the Commission’s past and current projects will be made, including a presentation of the Department of Veterans Affairs VECI – Veterans Economic Communities Initiative.  The City of Phoenix is one of the first American cities joing with VECI as part of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton’s initiative to increase jobs for veterans and transitioning military members.  Those attending this public meeting will be able to ask questions or offer input on how the Commission can better serve Phoenix’s veteran and military family members.

Future Commission meetings will be held at locations around the City to provide for greater access and input. Members of the Commission are volunteers, appointed by the Mayor and Council. The Commission provides advice and support to the Mayor, Council and City Staff on matters concerning veterans, military members and military families and spouses.

This is an official meeting of a City of Phoenix Commission.   For additional information, please contact Tara Gonzales, Management Intern assigned to the Commission, at 602-262-4449.
