Arizona Voter Turnout Reaches 60 Percent, Count Continues

On Monday, the Arizona Secretary of State announced that the voter turnout for the 2018 General Election reached 60 percent.

According to MAPAZ:

During the 2016 presidential election, the voter turnout rate for the state of Arizona was 49.9%, 5.6 percentage points lower than the national rate. Voter turnout in Arizona was relatively low when compared to other western states. Arizona ranked seventh out of the 9 western states. Of the western states chosen for comparison, Colorado had the highest voter turnout, with 66.4% of the voting-age population casting a ballot. On the opposite end, California ranked last, with a voter turnout rate of 48.4%.

According to Garrett Archer, “The Data Guru” for the Secretary of State, “There are approximately 172k outstanding ballots remaining to close out the 2018 Midterm in Arizona.”
