A man is dead after a shooting yesterday evening under the Interstate 17 Maricopa Freeway.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on May 21, 2023, around 6:00 p.m., Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 3rd Street and the Maricopa Freeway Access Road regarding a subject with a gun. When officers arrived, they did not locate the subject but did hear gunshots in the area. Officers were contacted and directed to an encampment under the Maricopa Freeway on 3rd Street. There they located an adult male with gunshot wounds. The man did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.
Detectives ask anyone with information to call Silent Witness at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) and provide an anonymous tip. Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest in this case.
