AZ Legislature Week In Review – Week Ending April 5, 2024

arizona house

The events at the capitol this week provided a new reason for citizens to vote Republican and do all they can to increase the Republican majority in the legislature.

On Thursday, the first meeting of the House Ad Hoc Committee on Executive Oversight was held. Unfortunately, that hearing was boycotted by all Democrats. This shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are far more interested in partisan mischief than they are in the wellbeing of the state. A full report on this event may be found HERE

Starting next week, the legislature will enter a period of limited actionable activity. They will be working feverishly on finalizing the last few bills and participating in budget negotiations. However, all this will be happening behind the scenes and there will not be opportunities to issue alerts regarding what is coming up.

We will continue to report on whatever progress takes place until the legislature adjourns, probably some time in the next 30 days.

One activity that we can react to is what the governor is doing regarding the bills that have been sent to her.

As of the time of this writing, 183 bills have been sent to the governor, of which she has vetoed 18. These numbers are likely to be higher by the time this publication is read.
