Two Arrested In Murder Of Teen Girl And Unborn Child

Two men were arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Zariah Finley Dodd and her unborn child, in Phoenix last month.

One of the suspects, 36-year-old Jurrell Davis, is the unborn child’s father.

Dodd was pregnant for approximately 22 weeks with a daughter at the time she was shot and killed.

18-year-old Jechri James-Gillett conspired with Jurrell Davis to commit and carried out the homicide.

Both suspects were booked on charges related to the investigation. Specifically, James-Gillett was booked for murder, while Davis was booked for murder and sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on July 5, 2025, at approximately 5:58 a.m., officers responded to the area of 55th Avenue and Osborn Road regarding an unknown trouble. When officers arrived, they located Dodd with an apparent gunshot wound. The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and pronounced her deceased.
