Shooter Indicted for Murder, Animal Cruelty in Maricopa County

J. John Alderman has been indicted on charges of murder and animal cruelty.

Alderman had been living at a motel in Gilbert near Country Club Drive and Guadalupe Road. On August 12, Rodney Brewer, his wife Jessica, and their dog were in an SUV that pulled into the parking space directly in front of Alderman’s room. Alderman fired shots into the SUV, killing Jessica. The couple’s dog was also shot but survived. Rodney Brewer was not harmed.

A grand jury has indicted Alderman on the following charges:

First-Degree Murder, a Class One Felony
Attempt to Commit First-Degree Murder, a Class One Felony
Cruelty to Animals, a Class One Misdemeanor.
Trial is currently scheduled for April next year.
