YUMA, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents at the Highway 95 immigration checkpoint north of Yuma on Saturday arrested two men, a U.S. citizen and a Mexican national, after finding more than 40 pounds of hard drugs hidden throughout their pickup truck.
Agents referred the truck for a secondary inspection following a canine’s alert to an odor it is trained to detect. While in secondary, the canine alerted to the truck’s door panels where agents found several packages of suspected narcotics.
Continuing their search, agents located additional packages hidden throughout the vehicle.
In all, agents seized a combination of methamphetamine and cocaine worth in excess of $350,000. Agents arrested both men for narcotics smuggling and seized the drugs and vehicle.
