PHOENIX — This week, Jose Orellana-Ruiz was sentenced to 27 years after pleading guilty to 2nd Degree Murder for injuring and killing his three-month-old daughter Adrianna.
On February 26, 2017 Orellana-Ruiz asked little Adrianna’s mother to bring her over for a visit. After he was with the baby for a few hours, he asked if he could keep her overnight. During that night Orellana-Ruiz woke his family because Adrianna became unconscious and was barely breathing. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died three days later after suffering serious brain injuries.
Initially Orellana-Ruiz told investigators that Adrianna’s injuries were caused by a fall while he was holding her. However, he eventually admitted that Adrianna kept crying during the night while he trying to sleep and out of anger he threw her against a headboard and threw a baby bottle at her face twice.
