Pima GOP Sues Tucson And Sanctuary City Group, Claims Signatures Not Valid

On July 19th, Pima GOP filed a lawsuit against the City of Tucson and the organizers of the initiative to put a proposal to officially make Tucson a Sanctuary City on the November ballot.

Should the Pima GOP lawsuit succeed, the proposition would not be placed on the ballot.

The City Clerk certified that the Peoples Defense Initiative turned in some 12,400 valid signatures, thereby qualifying its proposal to appear on the 2019 Tucson November ballot. The GOP’s lawsuit contends that the committee and Tucson made several procedural errors, and violated the state constitution as well, when collecting petition signatures, and, in the case of the city, qualifying those signatures.

  1. Waste of time in my opinion. It will get assigned to some liberal Judge and he/she will make sure enough votes count.

    • Maybe… but not making an effort just encourages these clowns to take yet another bite because they know no one will even try to stop them from whatever foolishness comes next.

  2. Conservatives in So.AZ are just shooting themselves in the foot. Tucson is a lost cause, and its City Government cannot be trusted as they’re dominated by the “THL” (Tucson Hard Left). I say let ’em pass this and suffer the consequences. The real prize in this convoluted struggle is the 40% of the Tucson metro that’s in Pima County. That’s a population base of 350–400,000 people.

  3. AZ Revised Statutes ARS 11-1051. Cooperation and assistance in enforcement of immigration laws; indemnification. A. No official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state may limit or restrict the enforcement of federal immigration laws to less than the full extent permitted by federal law.

    • Silly rabbit, don’t you know the COT doesn’t care about what the State says? This is Tucson, the Liberal bastion of the State!!
