The monthly costs for healthy meals for a family of four participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program increased by 31% over the past three years.
The United States Department of Agriculture stated the food stamp benefit amounts are based every year upon the cost of the Thrifty Food Plan. SNAP spent $7.9 billion on food stamps in November 2023.
The thrifty plan is considered the cost of groceries needed to provide a healthy, cost-friendly diet for families to prepare at home. The foods include dark green vegetables, poultry, and whole fruit, according to the USDA website.
These meals serve as a model for nutrition, now the typical meal for a family of four has increased in cost by 31% from January 2021 to January 2024, according to reports.
Evil resides in our White House.
just corporate welfare programs seeking more $$$ – wally mart, kroger, safeway, 7/11, circle K
why I advocate for SNAP only stores were you get basic staples, fresh fruite/veggies and other essentials – milk(no soda), cool-aide packets, tea, hamburger/chicken/fish
and allow on-line ordering/phone for those who cannot get in and do delivery in SNAP buses
bet there would be PLENTY $$$ left over
Oh, great now my cost will go from 31% to 62% because we taxpayers have to foot the bill for the increase, I’m sure they will push for. I realize many will think I’m cold hearted, but I really couldn’t care less. I feel for the kids, but do I feel that food should be taken from my kids to support this, No. The Dems rely on certain demographics for votes so they will insist that SNAP benefits be increased. They care nothing about the working middle class that has to eat the cost of their benevolence.
I’m with you, Chris ✊🏾
… and ‘The New Comers’ are being given this at your expense and mine.. perfect
