An Arizona man, Anthony Perez, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after a traffic stop by AZDPS revealed more than 138 pounds of methamphetamine in his vehicle.
According to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, on December 8, 2025, an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper pulled over Anthony Perez on westbound Interstate 10 after observing multiple traffic violations. Because Perez had never been issued a driver’s license, the vehicle was subject to towing and an inventory search. During that search, officers discovered a total of 138.8 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in duffel bags on the backseat of the vehicle.
On December 15, 2025, Perez was indicted by the Arizona State Grand Jury on charges of Transporting a Dangerous Drug for Sale and Possession or Use of Drug Paraphernalia.
On March 4, 2026, Perez pleaded guilty to one count of Transportation of a Dangerous Drug for Sale, a Class 2 felony. On April 2, 2026, Perez was sentenced to seven years in the Arizona Department of Corrections and ordered to pay more than $5,000 in fines and surcharges.
